There is nothing more that I love than socially responsible brands. Not only socially responsible, but brands who help the lives of others in need. I was born in Punjab, India and immigrated to the United States when I was 4 years old. I have only been back home once in the past 20 years of residing in California. Although I have spent most of my life in the States, I will always have a soft spot for India. The last time I went back home, I was speechless by the lack of opportunities and the way of life some are forced to live. Heavenly Organics is an organic brand that reached out to me recently. I read their story on how they started and immediately fell in love with the brand and their purpose. Heavenly Organics currently makes a positive impact for 600 farmer families in India; that is 600 families who have been given an opportunity to succeed in life.
I told myself that I wouldn’t do any more editorial photo shoots, but a few weeks ago I did an Indian bridal! Styling, hair and makeup, and execution are more of my taste. Whenever I’m the model as well, it becomes difficult to style the shoot and see what I look like. I’m sure you all can agree, that sometimes we think we look a specific way while taking photos and then we see the photos and we ask ourselves what was I thinking!? Long story short, my friend who has a decor company, R and R, reached out to me and I couldn’t say no. Here are some of the shots:
Hope everyone is having a great start to the week! I have been going to the gym quite often lately and that means I need a new outfit each time I go. On Sunday mornings, there is Yoga and 1-2 times throughout the week I will do weights and other exercises. Much of the workout clothing is starting to get repetitive. Who agrees with me? Well, if you haven’t heard of Mira Rae then let me introduce you. Mira Rae is a when fashion meets boring workout attire. It’s perfect athleisure that doesn’t just need to be worn during a workout, but it’s perfect for movie night or perhaps while running errands. The ladies over at Mira Rae, were kind enough to send me some of their pieces to try out.
Hey ya’ll! Hope everyone had a great weekend. It’s been quite warm in the Bay Area; in the upper 90’s and I decided to stay indoors most of my weekend. Going outside to get food wasn’t on my list either. I love cooking and all, but I’m not one of those people who can’t make a meal in 1 hour. If I make something, it has to be a full blown dish with proper presentation and the whole nine yards. So, whenever I decide to cook, I make sure to take out 2-3 hours. It would be wonderful to have that kind of time more often but with my busy schedule, I end up ordering out mostly. Recently I tried Freshly, and it is the easiest service for anyone who doesn’t have time to cook and is racking up on Door Dash bills, like me. = / I have tried other meal services where they send you groceries and you get to cook the meal yourself, but I wasn’t a fan of the overall taste. The best part, each meal is about 500 calories or less. If you’d like to try 6 meals, use the code nocook639 to get $20 off!
Hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th! I went down to Ventura to spend a few days with family. It was a great chance to unplug from work and relax. We rented a boat and explored the Ventura Keys which some of you may have seen on my Instagram stories. Now, I have been to the beach countless times and about 80% of the time, it’s too cold for a bikini. This time the weather was cooler than I preferred in Ventura and I skipped out on the usual bikini beachwear. Instead, I wore shorts and a tank; simple and comfortable. The look was casual since we were going to play volleyball as well! If I wanted to go for a dip, which I didn’t, I could jump right in!
